Biotin, Vitamins and Your Health

40 years of research prove biotin is important to vitamins and your health.

It took 40 years of research to prove biotin was useful in vitamins and your health. Now biotin is recognized as one of the more important vitamins in four essential metabolic reactions.

Biotin is attached at the active site of four important enzymes ( also known as carboxylases).

  • Acetyl-CoA carboxylase - required for sythesis of fatty acids.
  • Pyruvate carboxylase - critical during the formation of glucose from sources other than carbohydrates.
  • Methylcrotonyl-CoA carboxylase- essential in the metabolism of leucine; an essential amino acid.
  • Propionyl-CoA carboxylase- essential in metabolism of amino acids, cholesteral, and fatty acids.

All though these essential enzyme reaction can be taken for granted, we can’t afford not to take vitamins and our health seriously.
