Diet and Exercise Planning: Alternative Medicine
Incorporating alternative medicine into your diet and exercise planning program is easier than originally thought.
Today’s diet and exercise planning tip is the home remedy. Many of us do not realize that we utilize home remedies more often than not. After working first hand with different types of alternative medicine, I feel that the home remedy should be given credit. At one time in your life you have probably used one of these home remedies such as icing a sprained ankle, drinking green tea and chamomile tea for de-stress, and eating mom’s home made chicken soup that had brewed for ten hours when you were sick.
These are just a few of many simple remedies used in everyday life. When alternative medicine is mentioned, most of us probably think of some kooky quack. Alternative medicine is a broad term that ranges from unconventional therapies such as hypnotherapy, past life regression, energy healing to more traditional therapies such as massage therapy. However, most alternative medicine therapies are not unconventional.
The WHO (World Health Organization) estimates that around 3 billion of the world population (65%-80%) rely on traditional (alternative medicine) medicine as their primary form of health care. However, here is the surprising part. When traditional medical treatments are introduced into the Western culture is when they are seen as complementary or alternative. This being said indicates that most of the world’s population employs alternative medicine as their main form of medical treatment.
Why would you want to employ an alternative medical treatment versus traditional medical treatment? Alternative medicine and therapies tend to cost less when compared to the time and money invested in traditional medical treatments. These treatments may even have fewer side effects. Some other more famous alternative medicine therapies include aromatherapy, yoga, nutrition, diet and exercise planning, and massage therapy.
