Diet and Exercise Planning: Aspartame

Posted February 21st, 2006 by admin

Learn more about today’s diet and exercise planning topic; is aspartame safe?

One very controversial subject lately is aspartame. What? You know what aspartame is. Aspartame is an artificial sweetener found in Equal. Aspartame has no nutritional value, is used as a weight control product, and is quite inexpensive. You probably know all of this. However, what you don’t know can hurt you.

Aspartame is a chemical that crosses the blood brain barrier. Aspartame is believed to affect protein synthesis and DNA in the body. Aspartame toxicity can mimic many textbook symptoms of diseases such as Alzheimer’s, MS, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. However, the list goes on. Most doctors are not able to quickly diagnose aspartame toxicity because of its mimicking ability.

Another important thing to understand is that consumption of aspartame is cumulative. Aspartame is stored in fat in the body. Why hasn’t the FDA removed aspartame from the market? Researchers are questioning previous research as being deceptive in nature. There are many watch dog sites that show studies revealing cases of toxicity. My advice is for you to check this out for yourself.
