Diet and Exercise Planning: Basics of Weight Training

Posted February 14th, 2006 by admin

There are a few important rules to follow when adding weight training to your diet and exercise planning routine.

When adding weight training to your diet and exercise planning routine, it is important to do two important things if you want to gain muscle. Why would you want to weight train? When we weight train, we gain muscle. Gaining muscle helps us to increase our metabolism. When our metabolism increases we burn more calories and fat. This does not mean you have to be a body builder. There are different levels of weight training.

However, if you want to be successful at weight training you have to do two things. Over time you need to lift heavier weights. You want to challenge yourself with weight training. When we lift heavier weights we challenge our muscles to grow. This will increase your muscle mass. Also, you need to eat to support muscle growth. You need to take in enough calories and protein for muscle growth. These foods need to be high quality. No junk food. You will see over time as you lift weights that your body may weigh more, but you are trimmer. You will find yourself getting into the clothes you once could not. You will be surprised at how much adding weight training to your diet and exercise planning program can make a difference.
