Diet and Exercise Planning: Effective Muscle Building Diet

Posted February 14th, 2006 by admin

Learn how a diet tailored for muscle building can increase your fitness success.

When attempting to build muscle, it is important to consume quality calories. Muscle building requires a proper balance of protein, carbohydrates, and fat. Success is a matter of finding this balance for optimal muscle growth.

Resistance training helps increase muscle which increases our metabolism. However, resistance training is stressful to the body if the nutrients needed are not supplied. In order for muscle growth to occur, the muscle fibers need to be broken-down. The muscle then recovers after the exercise if the proper nutrition is supplied. This is what makes muscle grow.

Protein is essential for muscle growth and repair of the body. If you do not take in enough protein, the body cannot support any muscle growth. The amount of protein that is needed for optimal growth is different for each individual. However, protein should comprise about 30-40% of your muscle building diet.
