Diet and Exercise Planning: Essential Oil Benefits

Posted February 27th, 2006 by admin

Adding essential oils to your diet and exercise planning program can benefit you in the kitchen as well as with muscle pain.

Diet and exercise planning is often difficult because of the lifestyle changes that must follow. Reducing the stress of these lifestyle changes can help you be more successful at weight loss.

Essential oils explore extracted plant oils for aromatherapy use. A commonly used essential oil is basil. The name basil comes from the Greek word “basileum” meaning “king”. Basil is considered to be the ‘king among plants’. Basil was one of the ingredients within the blended massage oils used for massaging kings.

Basil is a useful herb both for cooking as well as for treating ailments. Basil has many medical benefits. When cooking, this herb should be plucked right before cooking since it looses its flavor rather quickly. Basil adds a gentle, warm unique flavor and fragrance in cooking.

Medically basil helps to relieve sore gums, migraines, colds, insect bites, rheumatism, mental fatigue, bronchitis, nervous tension, constipation, and insect bites. Basil is useful as a mental stimulant, antispasmodic, analgesic, antiseptic, and antidepressant. You may use 2-3 drops of basil essential oil to relieve the above conditions. However, if you are pregnant do not use basil essential oil because of its antispasmodic effects.
