Diet and Exercise Planning, Fraud Protection

Posted February 21st, 2006 by admin

While diet and exercise planning, how can I protect myself from dietary supplement fraud?

If you diet and exercise plan, you have found dietary health supplements that fraudulently claim to be the cure all products. This is usually too good to be true. The unfortunate affect of these fraudulent health products is a blow to the integrity of the entire nutrition industry. I guess there has to be a bad seed in every bag.

How can we protect ourselves from health fraud? The FDA does have a special division that works with health product fraud; the nontraditional drug compliance team in FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. The FDA also offers some advice I want you to know about health product fraud.

  • Learn dietary health supplement marketing catch phrases that sell products.
  • Watch for unrealistic claims. An example would be a product that claims to cure cancer and diabetes with only one pill a day.
  • Watch for unrealistic testimonials.

This is the best way to protect ourselves from dietary health supplement fraud. Nutrition supplements are a great advancement in health and nutrition technology. Please do not ostracize the health industry because of a few bad eggs. If we make smart choices, diet and exercise planning could be the key ingredient to a better quality of life.
