Diet and Exercise Planning: How the South Beach Diet Works

Posted February 15th, 2006 by admin

The South Beach Diet is a new low carb diet and exercise planning routine.

The South Beach Diet and exercise planning program claims that weight loss can be achieved without counting calories, weighing portions, or depriving yourself of satisfying foods. This diet was founded by Dr. Arthur Agatston, a cardiologist. Agatston designed this diet for his patients. I will explain how this diet works.

This diet is a less strict version of the Atkins Diet. The diet is designed in phases. Phase one focuses on increasing your metabolism. Phase two focuses on weight loss. Phase three is focused on lifetime maintenance which is similar to faze two.

The South Beach Diet emphasizes low carbohydrate foods, restriction of sweets and processed starches, white sugar, and unhealthy fats. The South Beach Diet also recommends minimum amounts of low carb vegetables to be eaten daily. However, before beginning a diet and exercise planning regimen please consult your doctor.
