Posted March 27th, 2006 by admin

Diet and exercise planning can help you utilize meditation techniques for increased relaxation.

Today’s diet and exercise planning tip focuses on the meditation technique. Meditation is a method to obtain a level of deep thought and relaxation. Meditation can help one to find inner peace and tranquility. In the fast paced world we live in, finding a therapeutic method to de-stress and relax is imperative. Meditation can help you reach a de-stressed state.

There is no right or wrong way to meditate but practice helps to find a meditative form that is right for you. A common meditative method involves repeating a word or sound referred to as a mantra. Another form of meditation involves focusing on a visual image like a symbol or a flame of a candle. While another meditative technique involves breathing and physical movements (yoga). Each form of meditation is used the same to reach a state of mental relaxation. Meditation is a great stress relieving exercise that helps to clear the mind and reach a state of deep thought.

There are two approaches to meditation. Concentrative meditation involves the focus on an object, mantra, or breath. Mindfulness meditation involves sitting quietly and observing the environment. The practitioner practices not reacting to the environment which leads to a greater ability to act in a non-reactive way in daily life. Meditation also involves different stages. The practitioner has difficulty concentrating on a breath or not reacting to a thought in the early stages of meditation. With practice the practitioner moves into a stage of bliss, then to a stage of a deep sense of self, and then into a stage of deep stillness.

Meditation holds both mental and physical benefits that include increased heart health through relaxation. Through meditation one achieves an increased sense of well being, emotional stability, and decreased anxiety. Many new to the practice of meditation may want to take part in a class when beginning or read up on the options available and practice on their own. Whichever is your choice, meditation is certainly beneficial to one’s physical and emotional well being. Incorporating meditation into one’s diet and exercise planning holds many benefits, why not give it a try.
