Today’s energy and weight loss supplements focus is on childhood obesity that is on the rise. It is estimated that around 15.5% of adolescents (12-19 years of age) are obese in the U.S. It is also estimated that 15.3% of children between the ages of 6-11 are obese. However, obesity in children has caused an early development of type II diabetes and hypertension. This also increases the risk of heart disease and obesity related diseases in these individuals.

But one thing that many are not considering with the obese child is the effect is has on their self esteem. Obese children become the target of bullies who taunt them about their weight. This can severely affect an obese child’s self esteem and confidence putting them at risk to develop depression.

What can we do to help decrease obesity in children? Encouraging children to be physically active instead of watching TV and playing video games is a great start. The lack of physical activity along with the increase in availability and convenience of fast foods has contributed greatly to obesity in children. A child’s diet should consist of healthy nutritious foods such as low fat dairy, lean meats, fruits and vegetables, and whole grains. This diet should also be low in saturated fats, trans fats, and low in sugar. Parents are role models for their children. You should emphasize the importance of physical activity and healthy eating. Energy and weight loss supplements wants to encourage physical activity and a healthy diet plan for every child whether overweight or not.
