Energy and Weight Loss Supplements: Dangers of Fad Diets

Posted March 28th, 2006 by admin

Energy and weight loss supplements help you to realize what health dangers reside in fad diets.

Energy and weight loss supplements focus on the health concerns of fad diets. Why should you not follow a fad diet? High fat low carb diets contain about 60% fat, 30% protein, and 10% carbohydrates. Some of the more common low carb high fat diets include the South Beach diet, Atkins diet, and the Zone diet. A diet that is high in fat is not healthy for the body. Not only that, by nixing healthy carbohydrates in the form of vegetables you are missing essential vitamins and minerals necessary for good health.

The purpose of the low carb diet is to reduce the body’s production of insulin. This results in the use of fat and protein stores for energy. The low carb diet will help you lose a great amount of weight. However, this weight loss will be temporary unless you follow this diet permanently. Following a high fat diet can contain excess amounts of saturated fats that increase the risk of heart disease. High protein diets can also put undue stress on the kidneys and should not be followed unless otherwise directed by a doctor. Energy and weight loss supplements wants you to focus on safe, healthy weight loss.
