Be careful of meal replacement drinks and bars. The meal replacement bar or drink is intended to replace a full meal. They can improve your energy by providing essential nutrients that you may be lacking in your diet. Loss of certain nutrients can definitely lead to fatigue. Meal replacement drinks and bars are high in calories though. If you need the calories for energy, this can be beneficial. But if you are trying to lose weight, steer clear of these types of drinks and bars.
Energy bars can offer the same benefits that energy drinks offer. But use precaution with them also. Do not make unhealthy energy bar selections or add unwanted calories to your diet. These energy bars are usually high in sugar and hydrogenated oils.
Check for trans fats when observing hydrogenated oils. Hydrogenation of polyunsaturated fats leads to trans fats. Our body cannot break these fats down. They lead to heart disease over time. Soft textured bars are likely to have high levels of hydrogenated oils. Look for energy bars with whole grains and fruits. They are usually harder in texture but are more likely to provide a proper source of quality carbs.
