Energy and Weight Loss Supplements: Medicinal Herbs

The Chinese have medicinal herbs for over 4000 years. Are we playing catch up with energy and weight loss supplements.

Many of today’s common energy and weight loss supplements contain medicinal herbs. However, herbs have been used by the Chinese for medicinal purposes for over 4000 years. The medical community is starting to give credit to the usefulness of herbs. Herbs can offer a healthy, natural alternative to heal and nourish the body. How can you benefit from the use of herbs?

There are many herbs that can be used for safe and effective weight loss. Many herbs can help to suppress the appetite. Many herbs can also help to maintain one’s weight. Brazilian Cocoa is a herb similar to caffeine. This herb can increase the metabolic rate, is a mild diuretic, and stimulate the central nervous system. If this herb is taken in excess, the result is restlessness, trembling, nervousness, and anxiety.

Cayenne pepper is a known herb used to spice up food. Cayenne pepper helps stimulate capsaicin which stimulates saliva. This herb stimulates digestion and increases the metabolism as well. Green tea is another well known herb that is a natural stimulant like coffee but contains only one-third the amount of caffeine when compared to a cup of coffee. Green tea also contains antioxidants and polyphenols (EGCG). Green tea is great ingredient in energy and weight loss supplements. Green tea increases the metabolism while suppressing the appetite. Wow! More bang for your buck.

Evening Primrose is a herb that is an alternative to help reduce cholesterol levels. This herb also helps those people who do not process fats correctly to lose weight. Seaweed is a natural thyroid stimulant that is widely available in capsule or tablet form. Psyllium is a herb that helps control the appetite by creating a feeling of fullness. This is mainly because Psyllium is full of fiber so drink plenty of water with this. Queen’s Flower is a herb that is used in weight control and by diabetes patients.
