Cholesterol helps to build strong bones and muscles. Cholesterol helps to repair damaged tissue. In fact, weak arteries tend to accumulate cholesterol and LDL’s. Why? It is much better to have a clogged artery than a ruptured one.
Cholesterol assists in regulating the blood sugar. Cholesterol helps to protect against infectious disease. Cholesterol is required to form vitamin D.
When sleeping at night, our brain synthesizes cholesterol to benefit our mood and increase our memory. Cholesterol is a vital component of the myelin sheath. Cholesterol supports the nervous system. Cholesterol has been found to be the rate limiting factor found in the formation of synapses. This formation is necessary for learning and the formation of memories.
Many believe that they can simply cut out cholesterol in their diets. However, our body does make cholesterol in the liver. If you cut out cholesterol the body will make more. Why? Because cholesterol is necessary for a healthy, functional body.
