Liquid Vitamin Facts: Aspartame

Posted January 22nd, 2006 by admin

Learn more about today’s liquid vitamin facts topic; is aspartame safe?

I recently read an article regarding the sweetener, aspartame. Many of us know of aspartame as the artificial sweetener Equal. What upset me was the claim that aspartame may not be safe for consumption. Aspartame is found in many diet sodas, sugar free gum, and other carbonated beverages.

Aspartame is believed to affect protein synthesis and DNA in the body. Aspartame also crosses the blood brain barrier. Aspartame consumption is also cumulative. This means the more you drink, the more it is stored (fat cells) in the body leading to toxicity. Toxicity in aspartame mimics many diseases such as chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s, etc. Aspartame toxicity is not easily diagnosed because of its ability to mimic many textbook diseases.

Why hasn’t the FDA removed aspartame from the market? Researchers are questioning previous research as being deceptive in nature. There are many watch dog sites that show studies revealing cases of toxicity. Please beware and check this out for yourself.
