The body responds to stress with certain physiological responses such as increased heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing. This all causes the blood flow to the muscles to increase, in case of fight or flight. This physiological response is great when being chased. However, the body responds the same way with daily stress. Over time, this can cause you to become anxious, nervous, and worried.

What causes stress? Physical factors that cause stress include lack of sleep, poor dietary intake, and illness. Mental factors also cause stress which include a death in the family, unemployment, job promotion, and marriage. Stress can be caused by positive and negative changes.

Over time, stress that is not dealt with can cause a host of health problems. A few signs of stress include headaches, constipation, high blood pressure, insomnia, depression, back pain, and fatigue. This is why it is imperative to relieve daily stress. What can you do to relieve your stress?

First, what is causing your stress? Once you have recognized the cause of your stress, you can try to avoid this stressor. If this is not entirely possible, then you must find ways to lessen the exposure to this stressor. Regular exercise helps to release pent up energy. Exercise also distracts you from your anxiety allowing you to relax. What else can you do to alleviate stress? You should try to get adequate sleep every night. Try to meditate and use deep breathing exercises to relieve stress. Try to follow a healthy, well balanced diet with limited amounts of caffeine and alcohol.
