Today’s liquid vitamin facts topic is; what is a home remedy? Is the home remedy nothing more than a myth? Home remedies are merely remedies that are administered at home. However, prescription drugs are given as home remedies too! When thinking of the home remedy, do you think of a treatment option that is outside of mainstream medicine?

A home remedy is thought of as holistic medicine that emphasizes the study or treatment of all aspects of one’s health. The holistic view includes physical, social, economical, psychological, and cultural factors. This term though is very broad and is applied to many medical approaches.

Herbs are commonly associated with home remedies. A herbal remedy is an extract or mixture of a plant or plant part used to alleviate or prevent disease. A herbal remedy is commonly called herbal medicine. Most home remedies include more than herbal medicine.

Folk medicine is a type of traditional medicine that is practiced by those individuals that are isolated from modern medical services. Folk medicine uses plant derived remedies on an empirical basis. Finally, a full definition of a home remedy is an experience based or possibly accidental cure or remedy prepared by common folk from plants, herbs, or other ingredients available when modern medicine was unavailable.
