Vitamins and Your Health Continue Vitamin B Complex, 1-9

Posted February 14th, 2006 by admin

Vitamin B complex discussion 1 of 9 will focus on thiamine. Vitamins and your health prove the need for vitamin B.

Our discussions regarding vitamins and your health have started to run in place for a few days. Vitamin B complex is very important and requires a lot of attention.

Thiamine (aka: vitamin B-1) is responsible for helping our body convert carbohydrates into glucose which is used in the Krebs cycle of every one of our cells. Actually, the health benefit that links the B complex vitamins in the eight part group is the assistance in converting carbohydrates to glucose.

Thiamine is a water soluble vitamin and can be depleted from the body in as little as 14 days but only if you are depending on sugar and alcohol. What a relief! New Years Eve only offers one day of complete health neglect!

A thiamine deficiency can actually cause a serious disease called Beriberi which is completely curable with thiamine injections. Beriberi can affects us with extreme fatigue, irritability, constipation, edema, enlarged liver and a few other unpleasant symptoms.

This isn’t a common deficiency so you probably will not be affected by this unless you have a very poor diet.

Unfortunately, good nutrition isn’t easy with our fast paced lives so please make a conscious effort to include vitamins and your health in your daily routine.
