Vitamins and Your Health: Dealing with the Symptoms of Pregnancy
Learn more about today’s vitamins and your health topic; how to deal with the nagging symptoms of pregnancy.
Today’s vitamins and your health focus is how to manage the symptoms of pregnancy. After dealing with the excitement of pregnancy, nagging symptoms that occur during the first trimester can make a glorious event not so glorious. What can you do to help deal with pregnancy symptoms? Here are a few tips to help with the symptoms of pregnancy.
Make sure to get plenty of rest. Listen to the demands of the body. When you are tired take a nap or go to bed. Do not worry so much about errands, finishing the nursery, or housework. During the second trimester you will have more energy to work on the nursery.
During the first trimester, you may have aversions to foods or may not feel like cooking. This is a good time to ask your significant other to help with the cooking and grocery shopping. Keep your significant other informed of the foods you like at this time.
Morning sickness is commonly seen in the first trimester. Nausea occurs more frequently in the morning, but may occur at any time during the day. Upon waking in the morning, nibble on a few crackers before getting out of bed. Why? Morning sickness is caused mainly by a sudden decrease in blood sugar. Crackers first thing in the morning can help boost your blood sugar and alleviate nausea. Lemons help to ease the symptoms of morning sickness. Try drinking lemon tea, lemonade, or sucking on a fresh cut lemon. Freshly cut lemon slices worked very well for me. But you may find that other remedies work better for you, just keep trying.
Lastly, do not read all the pregnancy books available. It is important to understand the changes your body will experience and what to look for, but find one book to educate you. In fact, your doctor should recommend one pregnancy book to read, if not ask them. Vitamins and your health encourages you to take good care of yourself during pregnancy; don’t forget to ask for help if needed.
