Surgery, exercise and vitamins can all aid you in preserve your health and youth.

In today’s Vitamins and Your Health topic, “What is a brow lift?” A brow lift is also referred to as an endobrow lift or forehead lift. The brow lift is a surgical procedure which is designed to reduce sagging of the forehead, upper eyelids, and eyebrows. The brow lift is used to reverse the signs of aging. A brow lift helps to reduce furrowed brow lines, hooding over the eyes, and droopy eyebrows.

The brow lift is an outpatient procedure performed under general or local anesthesia. The anesthesia chosen depends on the extent of work needed. The brow lift can be done with two different techniques such as the endoscopic lift or classic lift. Endoscopic lift requires several short incisions along the scalp. The endoscopic lift uses two scopes to modify the tissues and muscles with tiny titanium anchors to secure sagging tissue. The endoscopic lift allows for a shorter recovery time and minimal scarring. While the classic lift involves only one incision along the hairline from one ear to the other. The classic lift manipulates sagging tissues to remove wrinkles and deep lines.

These procedures will both require staples or stitches to close the incisions. Occasionally temporary fixation screws may be used which is removed after two weeks. Many patients will experience bruising and swelling of the face. Try to keep the head elevated to reduce the swelling. Other side effects may include temporary face numbness, headaches, itching, and rarely hair loss. Remember that surgical procedures have potential risks that should always be weighed against the benefits of the surgery. Consult a physician to speak about any surgical procedures before deciding to have an elective cosmetic or any surgical procedure for that matter. Understanding the risks and benefits of a surgery can help clarify the importance of the procedure. Perhaps prevention of age defining lines is the key. Stop furrowing your brow! Vitamins and proper nutrition can also help you preserve your health and youth.
