Vitamins and your health: Fat Soluble Vs. Water Soluble

Posted February 14th, 2006 by admin

Vitamins are essential for a maintaining good health. Find out more about the essential vitamins properties.

Vitamins and our health is an important topic today in our nutrient void world. However, most do not understand the difference between water soluble and fat soluble vitamins. Most vitamins are water soluble meaning that we need to replace them everyday. Our bodies do not store them, because they are water soluble. For example, when we take vitamin C (ascorbic acid) what our body does not need will be excreted.

However, fat soluble vitamins are not that way. They are the way they sound. They are absorbed into the body by our adipose tissue (fat), so they are not needed everyday. The fat soluble vitamins are A, D, E, and K. Fat soluble vitamins should not be taken in excess because they can pose a health risk.
