Vitamins and Your Health: Insulin Resistance

Have you noticed a significant weight gain despite your dieting and exercise habits? Do you exercise daily but notice no weight loss? Is it getting harder and harder to lose weight despite your weight loss efforts? If this is you, then maybe you could have what they call Syndrome X.

Syndrome X is referred to as Metabolic Syndrome or Metabolic Syndrome X and Insulin Resistance. Syndrome X is a serious health problem. In addition to weight concerns, it has been linked to heart disease, menstrual imbalances, hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), diabetes type II. This disease is common (1 in 3) but overlooked by many health professionals.

Syndrome X cannot process glucose. The pancreas will then compensate by producing more insulin. The unprocessed glucose then turns into fat. Syndrome X can be linked to genetics in some cases. But many causes of it are simply leading an unhealthy lifestyle. Processed food, too much sugar, not exercising, smoking, and stress are some of the culprits.

The most important thing you can do is exercise. Try to limit the processed foods you eat like starches, white bread, cookies, cakes, desserts, sugars, etc. Limit your caffeine intake. Let one third of your daily intake be fresh fruits and vegetables. Include vegetables and fruits with every meal. Make sure they cover one third of the plate.
