Combining vitamins and your health tend to be the main topic of choice. Basic vitamin supplement knowledge is often taken for granted. Some health conscious individuals take vitamins and do not know why.

  • What are vitamins? Vitamins are necessary for our health and can not be produced by the body. Vitamins have to be consumed in a nutritious daily diet.
  • How do essential vitamins benefit our body? Vitamins maintain healthy skin, proper nervous system function, maintain a strong immune system, and help boost energy.
  • How can I incorporate vitamin rich foods in my diet? There are two types; fat-soluble vitamins and water-soluble vitamins.
  • Fat-soluble vitamins can be supplemented in your diet by eating butter, dairy products, liver and fish oil. Some fat-soluble vitamins include vitamin A, D, E and K. Fat-soluble vitamins should not be added to your diet in excess. If your body doesn’t need a fat-soluble vitamin, it is stored in the liver. An over abundance can cause health concerns.
  • Water-soluble vitamins can be supplemented in your diet by eating a balanced diet and possibly dietary supplements. Water-soluble vitamins include vitamin B6, B12, C, B1, B2, folic acid, biotin, niacin and pantothenic acid. Water-soluble vitamins are not stored in the body if taken in excess so volume isn’t as critical but quantity is still important.
