Taking care of ourselves is very important. However, most mothers are too busy caring for everyone else in the family to care for themselves. However, taking care of mom is the most important thing. As the mom, you’re really the heart of the family. Your well being translates into everyone’s well being. Here are some good reasons why.
Whether you want to believe it, you’re the sun in your family’s planetary system. If mom is out of commission, then everyone suffers. So if you’re too busy to care for yourself, for yourself; then take care of yourself for everyone else. Well rested mothers are happy and much more likely to have happy thriving children. If you never let your children see you have needs, then you are teaching them that you are, a “doormat†and should be treated as such.
How can you make time to care for yourself? Schedule an appointment for yourself by marking days and times on a calendar like a real appointment. Find someone to watch the children and take the time for yourself to do the activity of your choice. A few hours a week devoted to something you love will help you feel refreshed. Ask for help. If you need time for three hours every Sunday to yourself, then tell your spouse. You cannot expect them to read your mind. So if you need help, ask!
