Learn more about today’s vitamins and your health topic; the African Bush doctor’s prescription for better health.

What is bush medicine? Bush medicine is basically herbal medicine. Bush medicine is the oldest healing system in the world. Bush medicine began in the African-Caribbean cultures about 30,000 years ago. In the African culture, plants are referred to as “bush”. About 70% of the world’s population uses traditional herbal medicine as a primary source of health care. Here are some simple tips on health from the bush doctor’s point of view.

Try not to eat too much, unless you are very physically active. Most of us eat around a third more calories than our body needs. Try not to eat alone. Eating alone causes us to eat quickly, we do not chew our food as well, and the meals usually contain less nutritional content. Company provides many health benefits for our mental and emotional well being.

Eat in a healthy environment. Many distractions and a loud environment can contribute to digestive problems and other issues. Eat less by using smaller plates and cutlery. Reduce your carbs to decrease obesity and diabetes. Many health problems were unknown until we started consuming large quantities of carbohydrates. Try to eat breads and pasta about 3-4 times per week.

Buy a juicer. Blending your own juice provides the natural health because there are no added chemicals or sugars. Try to cook your own food. Try using a slow cooker. You can cook large batches and freeze ready to go meals for convenience. Try not to eat out. Do not assume that restaurant food is healthy, you might be appalled at some restaurants.

Try to exercise daily. Balance yourself with tai-chi, qigong, or yoga twenty minutes a day. Try to get a massage monthly. If you can afford a weekly massage, the better. Massage offers many health benefits as well.

Do not be afraid to love or laugh. Laughter is great medicine for the soul. Try not to take life so serious. Treat your body well for years of enjoyment.
