Weight Loss Tips: Be a Label Watcher

Posted February 17th, 2006 by admin

Learn weight loss tips on misleading supplement label ingredients.

Today, weight loss tips must ask you if you have heard of the “proprietary blend” used on the side of weight loss supplement bottles. What in the world is a “proprietary blend?” This is a term commonly used by manufacturers to mislead the consumer. This does not necessarily mean that the weight loss supplement with “proprietary blend” listed on the side is useless for weight loss. What does this term mean?

There are two reasons why manufacturers list this on the side of their weight loss supplement bottle. This prevents the competition from knowing what ratios and amounts of each ingredient are present in the formula. This prevents the competition from copying their formula and is commonly referred to as a ‘knock off’.

Manufacturers also use this to hide the fact that the formula contains very little of the active ingredients listed on the bottle. This is an attempt to fool consumers. This is more commonly referred to as a ‘label decoration’ by industry insiders. There really is no great way to tell if the ‘proprietary blend’ used in many weight loss supplements is better than others with the same label. This is because the ingredients and amounts are not known.

Today’s weight loss tips can help you recognize and understand the ingredients in weight loss supplements. The right weight loss supplement can help you lose weight. Don’t be fooled by supplements that only claim to help.
