Try to get involved and help with the grocery shopping. This way you can opt for healthier items for the family and yourself. Ask your parents to keep fattening, unhealthy foods out of sight. If bad foods are out of sight, then they are out of your mind.

Learn to read the nutrition label and understand what you are eating. Understand what the serving size is of what you are eating. Adults and teenagers both have difficulty measuring proper portions, hence 70% of the population being overweight. Keep a food diary. Stop to think about what you are eating and whether you really want it.

It is important to also exercise regularly. When you exercise, you create lean muscle. Lean muscle burns more calories than fat which increases the body’s metabolism. This will help you burn more fat.
