The first step to weight loss is making a commitment to lose weight. Over time we tend to accept obesity, our thoughts tend to reflect this. However, recondition the mind to think like a thin person. How can we do this? You should abandon any preconceived ideas about eating and food. If being sociable involves eating, then you will have to learn to be sociable without food. Learn to develop new coping strategies. Your public persona should be in sync with your private persona. Do not use food as a coping strategy when feeling stressed. Do not eat in secret because of shame.

Exercise needs to become second nature for you. Do not treat exercise as a chore but a time to have fun. Exercise can be fun if you allow it to be. Exercise should be done preferably six times per week. Exercise will help to boost the metabolism which will cause you to burn more calories. Overcome your fears of exercising. Many overweight people have fears of exercising such as what others will think as they watch me. Most likely, no one is watching you exercise. Besides, nothing should stand in your way of getting you healthy.

The key to weight loss lies within portion control. Limit the amount of food you take in by using smaller plates to control food portions. Reconditioning the mind is challenging and can take some time. But weight loss does not happen instantly either.
