Learn how these four simple tools can help you lose weight effectively.

Here are four simple tools to help you chisel a healthy body. Strength training is essential for weight loss. Why? Every pound of muscle burns 35-50 calories a day. If you want to increase your metabolism, creating lean muscle will really do the trick. Also, by doing weight bearing exercises you are fighting osteoporosis. Start off with three sets of twelve repetitions for each major muscle group. Try to do this at least three times a week. The most important thing to remember is to use proper form.

Make sure to include a cardiovascular program. This means you are strengthening your heart and lungs. Anything that gets your heart pumping qualifies as cardio. You can do walking, jogging, running, dancing, swimming, biking, or even house cleaning.

Nutrition is tool number three. A failed exercise program is usually because we cannot eat healthy. There are many temptations out there. But you need to counteract the desire to eat unhealthy foods by focusing on lean proteins and complex carbohydrates. It is okay to indulge occasionally, but binge eating is not the answer. If you fall off the wagon, it’s okay. Get yourself back on track, and do not feel guilty.

Allow one to two days of rest each week. Make sure you are getting at least 7-9 hours of deep and peaceful sleep each and every night. Without proper rest your body will not fully recover from the daily wear and tear. We can grow tired and fatigue easily because of irregular rest patterns. So stay on top of your game by resting often.
