Today’s wellness tips topic; what is acupressure? One of the oldest Chinese traditions used to cure many health problems is acupressure. Acupressure requires the use of pressure by the means of elbows, hands, or needles. How does acupressure work?

The body has many pressure points which are linked to the energy of certain organs. Pressure that is applied to these specific points helps to energize the specific organ hence treating a specific ailment. Acupressure basically harmonizes the mind and soul.

The body is believed to be charged by the “Qi” (pronounced ‘Chi’). This energy runs along our bodies at spots referred to as meridians. Pressure that is applied to these meridians allows the energy which is blocked or stuck to be ‘healthy’ in a sense.

Shiatsu is a common acupressure therapy that uses immense pressure. Jin Shin is another common acupressure therapy that harnesses a gentler form of acupressure through soft touch and gentle strokes. What benefits does acupressure offer? Common benefits of acupressure include relaxation of the mind and body; healing injuries; builds vigor; relieves joint aches and pains; improves circulation; relieves stress; and relieves muscle tension. Wellness tips encourages you to harness the benefits of acupressure therapy.
